
Elgin and surrounding area is rich in historical sites and traditional industries which continue to flourish, for example the famous whisky trail, barrel making and of course renowned Scottish shortbread. All these industries offer visitor centres and very often excellent tea rooms as well.
There are lots of outside activities on offer including many golf courses, well defined walks for all abilities, forest events and water sports and of course, you may be very lucky and catch sight of our famous Moray Firth Dolphins. If you don't manage that, you can certainly eat our famous Moray Firth prawns!
Of special note is the village of Findhorn and its beautiful bay and beach. There is also the added attraction of the Findhorn Foundation which was one of the original sources of environmental awareness and eco-friendly attitudes. The Foundation welcomes visitors and is well worth a visit.
A trip to Moray wouldn't be complete without a visit to at least one distillery and perhaps taking a wee dram. Elgin has its own distillery, the Glen Moray. and in the surrounding area there are more than a dozen; you will recognize some very famous labels and can even have your own label printed in one. Each distillery has its own guided tour and some have tea rooms and gift shops.
